The Institute of Banking (IOB) is Ireland’s leading provider of specialist education for the financial sector, with a growing international reach. We train professionals working across financial services - from financial institutions to central banks, regulators, and supervisors. Our programmes are practitioner-led, highly customisable, and designed to support real-world decision-making. They offer a holistic view of central banking and financial resilience, with the option to integrate deep expertise in climate, sustainability, and other emerging priorities - all delivered by faculty with global regulatory and supervisory experience.
IOB programmes are designed to meet the specific needs of central banks, financial supervisors, and regulatory authorities. All offerings are customisable, shaped around local market conditions, institutional goals, and regulatory contexts.
At the heart of our international offering are two flagship programmes, supported by a wide range of optional modules and leadership-level engagements. Each programme can be tailored for early-career central bankers and supervisors, or adapted for more experienced professionals with team lead or middle management responsibilities.
Central Banking In a Rapidly Changing World - A cross-functional journey through the core areas of modern central banking — including monetary policy, exchange rate and reserves management, prudential and macroprudential supervision, and crisis preparedness. Participants engage with case studies and international examples to explore how policy choices are made and adapted in practice.
Developing a Risk-Based Supervisory Mindset - A practical, applied training pathway for supervisors and team lead or mid-level managers. The programme focuses on judgment, prioritisation of risk, and supervisory complexity, underpinned by IOB’s Skills and Competencies Framework and paired with leadership development.
Adaptable Learning Pathways
Institutions can extend or tailor their learning by choosing from a suite of optional modules, such as:
Conduct supervision & enforcement
anti-money laundering/ Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF)
asset management & funds sector oversight
Operational & cyber resilience
Climate and nature-related risks (intro & deep dive)
Stress testing frameworks
Central bank capital, accounting, and financial reporting.
Strategic communications
For example, our Climate, Nature & Stress Testing modules equip supervisors and regulators with the tools to assess transition risk, implement disclosure frameworks, and contribute to resilient, forward-looking financial systems.
Leadership Retreats and Peer Group Roundtable Discussions
To support board members, executives and senior leaders, IOB offers strategically focused, peer-to-peer, faculty-led discussions and leadership retreats, led by former central bankers and regulators. These sessions explore topics such as governance, disclosure, and the financial stability implications of international finance, geopolitical uncertainty, climate, and innovation.
Pracademic’ Learning Model – designed for those in specific financial roles, incorporating both executive education (CPD) and formal qualifications, with an emphasis on applying knowledge in real-world scenarios.
An Alternative to Consultants: We offer high-quality, competitively priced, customised training for those working in financial services and financial authorities - focusing on practical, applied expertise rather than external advisory.
From Frameworks to Mindset: Participants engage with real-world case studies to explore why countries take different approaches and how those choices are made in practice—gaining insight into how core principles can be adapted to their own context. While frameworks (what) and rationales (why) are addressed, the emphasis is on the how: developing the mindset, judgment, and practical skills needed for lasting institutional change.
Tailored Offerings for Financial Authorities – offers both accredited and non-accredited training for supervisory bodies, central banks, and financial institutions, ensuring alignment with global best practices and regulatory standards.
Bespoke & Scalable Programs – flexible, can be customised to institutional and country-specific needs, delivering targeted impact.
Strategic EU Location & Global Reach – an EU-based, English-speaking institution, a global financial hub, with strong international networks.
Raising Standards Through Practitioner-Led Learning – By drawing on real-world expertise and insights from experienced professionals, IOB delivers practical, context-rich training that raises standards and supports a culture of excellence within central banks and financial authorities.
IOB is led by a team of seasoned professionals with deep experience in regulation, supervision, and international financial policy. Our leadership brings both strategic insight and real-world expertise to the design and delivery of our international programmes.
